The Super Pit swallowed a century of small underground workings on the Golden Mile into a single hole 3.5 km long. It is the most photographed mine in Australia.

"ग्रेड" चट्टान में उपयोगी पदार्थ का प्रतिशत होता है। 0.5% ग्रेड वाली एक तांबे की खदान प्रत्येक टन तांबे के लिए 199 टन चट्टान फेंक देती है। यही एक संख्या तय करती है कि कोई अयस्क निकाय खदान है या केवल भूविज्ञान का एक रोचक नमूना।
