Terms of use
By visiting, using or viewing this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Purpose of the site
The Materials Atlas publishes general, impersonal reference information about materials, mining, processing and supply chains. It is an educational publication. It is not tailored to any person's circumstances, objectives or needs.
2. Publisher status
The Materials Atlas is a publisher of general and regular circulation. To the extent any content touches on securities, it is provided within the publisher's exclusion from the definition of "investment adviser" under Section 202(a)(11) of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940: the content is impersonal, of general and regular circulation, and not tailored to any individual's situation. The Materials Atlas is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial planner and does not provide personalised investment advice.
3. No advice of any kind
Nothing here is investment, legal, tax, medical, safety or engineering advice. No content constitutes a recommendation that any security, portfolio, transaction, product, supplier or strategy is suitable for any specific person. Consult an appropriately qualified professional before acting.
4. Accuracy and revision
Information is compiled from third-party datasets and public reporting and is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness or fitness for a particular purpose. Figures are estimates, are subject to revision by their publishers, and may be stale. Always verify against primary sources.
5. Limitation of liability
All viewers agree that under no circumstances will The Materials Atlas, its operators, partners, officers, employees, affiliates or agents be held liable for any loss or damage caused by your reliance on information obtained here, including any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages.
6. Intellectual property
Underlying government datasets, principally the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, are in the public domain and you may use them freely from the source. The selection, structure, wording and presentation of this site are the property of its operators; you may quote them with attribution and a link. Photographs are the property of their creators and are licensed individually — reuse is governed by the licence printed beneath each image, not by these terms. Automated bulk scraping, republication of the site as a whole, and use of the content to train models without permission are not permitted.
7. External links
Links to publishers, company sites, licence texts and data sources are provided for reference. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.
8. Changes
These terms may change. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
