What is it?
Wood collected after use - pallets, crates, demolition timber and furniture - and sent back into panels or energy rather than landfill.
Why does it matter?
Recovered wood is the cheapest fibre a panel mill can buy and it competes directly with pulpwood, which means recycling policy moves roundwood demand. It is also where contamination decides value: a clean pallet is a raw material, a painted or treated board is a disposal cost.
Deeper written sections for this material have not been published yet. Everything below is drawn straight from the source datasets and is complete.
Read the numbers correctly.
Metric tonnes as reported, and reported by relatively few countries - the world total is a total of those reporters only.
Sold graded by contamination class. Treated and preserved wood is excluded from most recycling routes because the preservative follows the fibre.
