What is it?
Sheets made by gluing wood back together - veneers, chips, strands or fibres pressed into a flat board.
Why does it matter?
Panels are how the industry uses the trees a sawmill cannot: small, crooked, fast-grown or already sawn into offcuts. They turned the residual half of every log from a disposal problem into a product line, and they compete directly with solid lumber in sheathing, flooring and furniture.
